The story of Normandy Park begins in the 1920s, when the Seattle-Tacoma Land Company acquired 1,200 acres of waterfront land between Seattle and Tacoma and created a master-planned residential community on paper. The targeted architecture was to be strictly French Normandy, the homes to be high-end, with a clubhouse, developed beaches, golf course and a yacht club. A beautiful clubhouse was erected, and a few elegant homes put up, and then The Great Depression hit. There was a lull in development until after World War II, and then this lovely area was rediscovered. By 1953 the community had grown to the point that it was ready for incorporation. Now at over 6,500 people, Normandy Park stands as a testimony to those early visionaries. Convenient access to downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac with amazing Puget Sound recreational opportunities, this scenic woodland waterfront town, gives residents the best of both worlds.
People here are rightfully proud of their serene, walkable town with its clean, safe environment, good schools and stunning views. And this close to a metropolitan area, they are lucky to have large residential lots, many with that original 1920s platted size, from several thousand square feet to several acres. One hundred acres of parkland within the city provide welcome green space and recreation.
Single family homes here sell from the $800,000 range up to three plus million dollars.
